Last updated April 11th 2009

Lynn T
Acrylic/canvas. 46 x 61cm (18 x 24 in).
January 2008.

The second of a planned series of portraits of artists from the Dunedin art scene - this is Lynn Taylor, in front of two of her works at Salisbury House Gallery, which she co-runs. This was an impossible painting to paint - I have known Lynn for three quarters of my life, so I was constantly fighting mental images of how she was at age 11, 15, 24... I never managed to get the smile in her eyes right, but this is the best I could do.

Fiordland impressions
Acrylic/canvas. 46 x 61cm (18 x 24 in).
January 2008.

I used the same vortex effect on this painting as I did several years ago on In dark trees on this painting of native forest near Lake Gunn in southwest New Zealand.

Manapouri mountains
Acrylic/canvas. 46 x 61cm (18 x 24 in).
February 2008.

Actually part of the Kepler Range, I think - viewed across Lake Manapouri in southwest New Zealand.

Sighting the sound
Acrylic/canvas. 46 x 61cm (18 x 24 in).
March 2008.

A view of Milford Sound in southwest New Zealand.

Child in blue hood
Acrylic/canvas. 51 x 61cm (20 x 24 in).
June 2008.

The first of a series of portraits painted for my fifth solo exhibition in May 2009. Like most of the pictures for this exhibition it is "driftnetted" - picked at semi-random from photographs found on the web, then altered significantly and painted.

Talya
Acrylic/canvas. 51 x 61cm (20 x 24 in).
August 2008.

Another portrait painted for my fifth solo exhibition in May 2009. Like most of the pictures for this exhibition it is "driftnetted" - picked at semi-random from photographs found on the web, then altered significantly and painted.

Maria waits
Acrylic/canvas. 51 x 61cm (20 x 24 in).
September 2008.

As with the two above, painted for my fifth solo exhibition in May 2009. Like most of the pictures for this exhibition it is "driftnetted" - picked at semi-random from photographs found on the web, then altered significantly and painted.

Arthur
Acrylic/canvas. 51 x 61cm (20 x 24 in).
October 2008.

Another "driftnetted" picture, this one of a preacher from some mid-west US ministry. For some reason he seems to look vaguely Samoan to me, or at least a Pacific Islander of some kind - possibly a combination of the face shape and colours used.

Oskar
Acrylic/canvas. 51 x 61cm (20 x 24 in).
November 2008.

A "driftnetted" picture of a German industrialist - another painting for the May 2009 exhibition.

Rosanna knows
Acrylic/canvas. 51 x 61cm (20 x 24 in).
December 2008.

Yet another "driftnetted" picture.
